You are so excited to be going away for the weekend. It should be great fun to catch up and spend time with friends. Then you start thinking…none of your friends need to be gluten-free. What can you eat? How are you going to navigate this? First, take a deep breath. You can do this!
Communicate-let your friends know you need to eat gluten-free & you may have to eat different food.
Plan ahead-it’s critical. Think about how many meals and snacks you will need.
Bring some meals to share with the group, then you know they are gluten-free.
The grocery store-this is always a great resource. Remember you don’t need to eat every meal out.
Make a list so you can run to the store & quickly pick up what you need. Make sure you add aluminum foil to your list. You can line pans with this to eat safely or toast your bread/bagel under the broiler in the oven.
Research restaurants near where you will be staying. If everyone wants to eat out you can give some suggestions that you know will be safe for you.
Most importantly have FUN!
