We hit the road and headed to Buffalo recently! I have a niece that lives there and thought we would spend the day with her. Our first stop was the Walden Galleria Mall. I am not a big shopper however; my child needed some dress clothes so off we went!
If you enjoy shopping this would be a great place for you! There are numerous stores here to explore. Some highlights are Lululemon, Loft, American Eagle, Apple, DSW, and Sephora. My favorite was Macy's! We found all the clothes my daughter needed at Macy's, thankfully! After shopping, we went to The Cheesecake Factory.
Sadly, there are not many gluten-free options here. However, we do love the gluten-free Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake! It's my daughter's favorite so anytime we are near The Cheesecake Factory we stop to get some! When we arrived I saw that they now offer two more types of cheesecake. A Low-Licious Cheesecake and a Low-Licious Cheesecake with strawberries. I thought I'd try something new so I ordered the Low-Licious Cheesecake with strawberries. I asked the waiter if he had ever had it or knew what others thought of it but he did not.
Let's just say the Low-Licious cheesecake was not licious or delicious! It tasted like they put a great deal of fake sweetener in it. It just tasted like chemicals! My server was very kind when I told him that it was not good and I wanted the Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake instead. (He kindly did not charge me for the Low-Licious.)
In the end, my youngest child and I had the Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake. It was delicious!
My older child (who does not have Celiac) enjoyed the Red Velvet Cheesecake. This is her favorite! We will have to take her word for it.
After leaving The Cheesecake Factory we headed to Niagara Falls. My children have never been to Niagara Falls. My niece suggested that we go on the Maid of the Mist, that was a GREAT idea! We headed north to the falls. Here are some pictures from the Maid of the Mist.
As you can see I was able to take fantastic pictures from the boat! I highly recommend taking this boat tour! It did get a bit breezy and "misty." As you can see from my picture below!
Our "rain jackets" were blowing all over! The boat headed toward the falls as we closer to the falls the boat maintained its position right next to the falls. I believe this was to give us ample time to take lots of great pictures. This is when we started to get wet! At one point between the wind and the mist, I could not even tell what I was taking pictures of! Luckily it was a nice day so we didn't get cold.
The next stop was Dinosaur Bar-B-Que...
This is a family favorite! Dinosaur Bar-B-Que got us through COVID. Sounds crazy, right? During COVID my family would drive two hours to our closest Dinosaur Bar-B-Que to pick up take-out food, or when the weather was warmer we would eat outside, then we would drive the two hours home! We did not do this regularly but we did do it a few times. It gave us something to look forward to. If you are thinking "Wow, do they really not have that many restaurants close to them?" The answer is, yes.
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que has six locations throughout New York. Did I mention I love Dinosaur? This is a place my whole family can eat. All the meat and bar-b-que they have is gluten-free! We can also eat many of the side dishes. My family has eaten at four of their six locations and has never had an issue. Their food is delicious!
Below is an image of my "pick two" pulled pork and St. Louis ribs with a side of mashed potatoes, no gravy. This was my dinner and I enjoyed EVERY bite!
My daughter also ordered the St. Louis ribs as well as the Bar-B-Que wings. The great part is that my family can all enjoy the restaurant whether we need to be gluten-free or not! It's a great restaurant for everyone!
As you can see there are loads of options on their gluten-free menu! Have a said how much I love this restaurant?!
We had a wonderful day! We were able to get the clothes we needed, ate great food, and were able to enjoy the Made of the Mist! Most importantly, I was able to spend time with my family and niece!
