About Me

Meet Noreen Wheeler

I help people with celiac disease and their families feel less overwhelmed, better prepared and more confident in everyday gluten-free life.

My guidance is shaped by living with celiac disease, raising a child with celiac disease, more than 25 years as a school counselor and my personal experiences traveling gluten-free.

My Journey With Celiac Disease

My Journey With Celiac Disease.png

I was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2013. Like many people facing a diagnosis, I had to learn how to approach food, restaurants, social situations and travel differently.

Celiac disease can affect everyday decisions that other people may not need to consider. Even something as simple as eating at a restaurant, attending an event or planning a family trip can require additional questions and preparation.

I also understand celiac disease from a parent’s perspective because I am raising a child with the condition. I know how difficult it can feel to balance safety with your child’s need to participate fully in school, social activities and family experiences.

These personal experiences inspired me to share what I have learned and help other people feel less alone.

More Than 25 Years Supporting Children and Families

For more than 25 years, I have worked as a school counselor, helping children and families navigate challenges, communicate concerns and move forward with greater confidence.

I am not a nutritionist or a medical professional; however, my professional experience as a school counselor has given me extensive experience listening to families, understanding their concerns, and helping them organize practical next steps.

This combination of professional experience and lived celiac experience allows me to understand many of the emotional and practical concerns families face, especially when a child must manage celiac disease at school.

Why I Created Gluten Free Life & Travels

To help others by providing education, personal experience, resources and support for those navigating celiac disease.
