Woodburn Hall in Morgantown, WV

DESTINATION OF THE MONTH

Morgantown, West Virginia

Morgantown was one of my latest adventures, and this time, we headed there to enjoy some college football! To say I was excited that the West Virginia Mountaineers beat Cincinnati is an understatement! There’s something special about the energy of a college football town on game day. But Morgantown is more than just football! It’s a fun college town with a lively downtown full of local shops and restaurants, scenic riverfront trails, and beautiful mountain views nearby. If you love the outdoors, you can take a short drive to Coopers Rock State Forest for some incredible overlooks. It’s a great spot for a fall weekend getaway, especially if you love college sports, small-town charm, and a little Appalachian scenery.

GF TRAVEL TIP

Always Pack Snacks

A collection of visually appealing and healthy gluten-free snacks like pretzels and nuts.

When I was recently away, I packed gluten-free oatmeal for an easy breakfast, only to discover it was stale! It was a good reminder to check your snacks before you travel. You never know when plans will change or gluten-free options will be hard to find, so always pack a few favorites. And take it from me, make sure they’re fresh before you go!

RESTAURANT SPOTLIGHT

Just Simply the Bakery - Morgantown, WV

Just Simply the Bakery is a dedicated gluten-free and allergen-friendly bakery and café in Morgantown, WV, and I’m so glad we stopped!  Sadly, we didn’t have much time to stay, and the place was busy on a Sunday morning. We grabbed some baked goods for the road, but I’m already planning a return visit! And guess what? They have gluten-free pepperoni rolls!  If you know, you know! If you don’t, look them up.  I haven’t had one since my celiac diagnosis, so you can bet I’ll be back for those and a gluten-free breakfast! Have you ever visited Just Simply the Bakery? What should I try next time?

WHAT'S IN MY CART

Gluten-Free Product Find

One of my pet peeves is spending a lot of money on gluten-free products that don't taste good. Here is one product I found this week and worth the money!

Bread in a green bag

Franz Gluten-Free Sourdough

This is my go-to bread for a good old-fashioned peanut butter and jelly sandwich! It’s soft, squishy, and you don’t even have to toast it! If you’ve been missing a classic PB&J since going gluten-free, give this one a try. The best part? You can find it at Walmart!
