Packing Smart for Your Gluten-Free Disney Trip

Packing for Disney can feel overwhelming, especially when you're trying to travel gluten-free, stick to a budget, and keep the kids happy and comfortable. Over the years, I’ve learned some practical, affordable ways to pack smart and prepare for a magical (and meltdown-free) trip. Whether you're flying or driving, these tips will help your trip run smoothly from the start!

1. Pre-Pack Outfits in Gallon Zip-Top Bags

Cheap gallon-size zip-top bags are a game-changer when packing for kids! Before your trip, pack one full outfit (shirt, shorts, underwear, socks) for each child in a separate bag. This makes getting ready in the morning quick and stress-free, just grab a bag and go.

TIP: Use empty bags later for wet clothes or organizing souvenirs in your suitcase!

2. Comfortable & Waterproof Shoes

Disney = walking, a lot of walking.

Each child should have:

  • A pair of comfortable walking shoes (already broken in)

  • A pair of waterproof shoes like Crocs or sandals, for splash pads or rainy afternoons

  • Pack band-aids and blister bandages just in case.

Blisters and soggy sneakers are not part of the magic, trust me!

3. Sandwich Bags for Gluten-Free Snacks

Bring along sandwich-sized bags to pre-pack gluten-free cereal and snacks for the park. This saves time in the morning and helps you save money on snacks throughout the day.

  • Gluten-free cereal in a bag for breakfast

  • Popcorn, gluten-free crackers, or trail mix for snacks throughout the day

4. Don’t Forget Sunscreen & Gum

Two important items that often get overlooked:

Sunscreen – Florida sun is strong year-round

Gum – It’s not sold anywhere on Disney property, so pack it if it’s a must for you

5. Flying vs. Driving: What to Bring or Ship Ahead

Whether you're flying or driving, stock up on essentials to save money and reduce stress.

  • Case of water

  • Gluten-free breakfast food (cereal, oatmeal, protein bars)

  • Snacks

  • Extra sunscreen

  • Gum

  • Drinks

  • Medicine - Tylenol/Ibuprofen

Use a grocery delivery service (like Instacart, Amazon Fresh, or Garden Grocer)

You’ll avoid high park prices and always have safe, gluten-free options on hand.

Final Thoughts

Packing for Disney doesn’t have to be stressful, especially when you’re managing gluten-free needs. With a little preparation and a few simple hacks (hello, zip-top bags and pre-packed snacks!), you can stay organized, keep the kids comfortable, and avoid unnecessary costs once you’re in the parks. Whether you’re driving or flying, having the right items with you or delivered to your hotel makes all the difference in setting your trip up for success.
